HOW THE CUSTODIAL PROGRAM WORKS

The BCI Skills Center is a first-of-its-kind vocational training facility designed to provide job training programs for adults with disabilities, helping them develop the necessary skills for competitive employment.

Step 1: Assessment and Enrollment

Each applicant completes a brief trial specific to their chosen vocational program to determine readiness. If the vocation isn’t a good fit, applicants are guided toward other training opportunities or employment services better aligned with their strengths and interests.

Step 2: Customized Curriculum

Most programs run for six weeks. Our Custodial Program curriculum may include instruction in safe chemical handling, floor care, restroom sanitation, and facility maintenance. Students also receive training in communication, punctuality, teamwork, and other essential soft skills.

Step 3: Real-World Application

Our students apply what they’ve learned in real custodial environments. BCI’s staff works closely with trusted employer partners to monitor progress, support growth, and ensure a smooth transition into the workforce.

Step 4: Program Completion and Job Placement

Upon successful completion of training and other hiring requirements, graduates may be placed into custodial positions that align with their skills and preferences. Our Custodial Program connects participants with inclusive employers offering competitive wages and long-term opportunities for growth.
